In 2015 the Temple Beth Shalom of Peabody and Temple Tifereth Israel of Malden united to form the Temple Tiferet Shalom. The final piece of this amalgamation was the renovation of the temple space and preschool. The project began by thoroughly examining the existing facility, acknowledging the historical and architectural significance of the 1960s design. Through immersion and understanding of the congregation's evolving needs, the renovation focused on four key categories: Structural Integrity, Security, Usability, and Beautification. As the heart of the congregation's faith, the sanctuary received careful attention to ensure structural soundness without compromising aesthetics. Collaborating with structural engineers, the team addressed underlying issues, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and visually appealing sacred space.

Recognizing the vital role security plays in fostering a healthy and vibrant community, the project incorporated window replacement to enhance security and longevity. The new windows with advanced window films provide an effective and cost-efficient solution, ensuring the congregation's peace of mind for years.

The project embraced innovative solutions, including new connectors from the entry level to the lower preschool space, to make the entire building accessible. A careful analysis of the temple's layout also identified opportunities for improved circulation, program element relocation, and enhanced functionality, especially in the central entry lobby. Noteworthy features include a grand staircase, new patio and walkways, sanctuary A/V enhancements, and stained-glass bimah work. The result is a revitalized sacred home that aligns with the congregation's values and provides a welcoming space for communal gatherings.
