Maple Cove Cottage embraces the client's desire for the English Arts and Crafts style while showcasing harbor views and connection to its site's natural environment. The views change with the tides, the light, the weather, and the seasons – full of life with moored yachts and sailboats, the village, and the surrounding properties on the harbor. The front entrance hall acts as a bridge between the front and back of the house and gives those arriving at the front door a glimpse through the Maples that frame the view of the harbor. The stone fireplace surround is a replica of the antique one in the client's original home, while the accompanying millwork conceals a TV cabinet with sliding doors. When closed, the doors look like an artwork of eight panels, each with a different leaf relief pattern. The laser-cut maple leaves reference the site's many maple trees and bring organic forms into the millwork design.
