Our Newburyport Blue project, featured in this month’s Northshore Home Magazine, highlights the seamless blend of 18th-century charm and modern functionality. This 1730 Georgian home in Newburyport celebrates its rich history while embracing a design fit for contemporary living and entertaining.
The newly designed kitchen replaces an outdated addition and connects effortlessly to the historic dining room, creating an ideal flow for gatherings. Featuring reclaimed pumpkin-pine floors and Hale Navy paneling, the kitchen opens onto an outdoor patio, extending the entertaining space. The mudroom adds a bold touch with vibrant red cabinetry, while a modernized bathroom balances sleek design with period-accurate details.
Architect Juli MacDonald, AIA, explains, “It’s important that the massing of the exterior feels compatible with the historic home while allowing the new spaces to shine.” Every detail, from reclaimed materials to contemporary accents, is carefully chosen to create a Beautiful Place that remains true to its Georgian roots.
