Pingree Rodgers Residence

South Hamilton, MA

The Roger’s House, built just after the turn of the century, has served the Pingree school for several decades.

It was used for faculty housing until OLSON LEWIS + design team was asked to re-invent it as a headmaster’s home. The crux of their design challenge was two-fold. The location was breath-taking, with views of open fields, state parks and the historic buildings on the main campus. Yet the structure itself had fallen into disrepair, bordering on tenement conditions at the time the school chose to renovate it. The team had to restore it to a state of pride and purpose. They also had to create a home that could serve two sets of occupants. It would be a year-round, daily home to one family that lived on campus. It would also be the location for social gatherings to benefit the school at large.
